The New One is the story of a family living in near-future Cornwall, in poverty. When their daughter Scarlett is catastrophically injured by a hit-and-run driver, everything seems bleak . . . until they are offered salvation in the form of a medical trial. They move to Switzerland, into a new life of luxury, and discover that the medical trial is a lot more complex than it initially appeared.
